Description

Delight in these irresistible Valentine’s Oreo Truffles made with creamy cream cheese and golden Oreo cookies, coated in vanilla candy melts and adorned with festive sprinkles. Perfect bite-sized treats for celebrating love and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Base

  • 42 golden Oreo cookies
  • 6 ounce cream cheese, room temperature
  • 20 drops pink food coloring, divided

Coating and Decoration

  • 16 ounces vanilla candy coating
  • Favorite Valentine sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oreo Crumbs: Place 42 golden Oreo cookies in a food processor or a sealed Ziploc bag and crush them into fine crumbs using a rolling pin if a processor is unavailable.
  2. Mix Filling: Transfer crumbs to a mixer or back in the food processor, add 6 ounces of softened cream cheese and 10 drops of pink food coloring, then mix thoroughly until the mixture holds together well to form rolled balls.
  3. Form Truffles: Using a small ice cream scoop, melon baller, or teaspoon, scoop uniform amounts of the mixture and roll into firm 1 1/4 inch balls. Place them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. You should get about 24 balls. Freeze while preparing the coating.
  4. Melt Candy Coating: Break 16 ounces of vanilla candy coating into a microwave-safe bowl and melt in 20-second bursts, stirring after each, until smooth and completely liquid, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Dip Truffles: Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each truffle into the melted coating, lift and gently tap the fork against the bowl’s edge to remove excess coating. Place dipped truffles back on the parchment paper.
  6. Decorate: Sprinkle Valentine sprinkles over the truffles immediately while the coating is still wet. Repeat dipping and decorating all truffles.
  7. Set Coating: Refrigerate the tray of dipped truffles for at least 15 minutes to allow the coating to set.
  8. Serve: Serve the truffles at room temperature for the best texture and flavor. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Store Oreo truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days for optimal freshness.
  • Truffles can be frozen for up to 3 months; thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, crushing the Oreos in a sealed bag with a rolling pin works just as well.
  • Adjust the pink food coloring according to your desired color intensity.
  • Using a toothpick to remove excess coating from the dipping fork helps keep the coating neat.
  • Get creative with decorations by adding chopped nuts, crushed candy, or drizzling contrasting melted chocolate once the coating hardens.
  • Cream cheese-containing truffles can be left at room temperature for up to 2 hours safely as per FDA guidelines.
