Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Pepperoni Pizza Pinwheels featuring crescent roll dough filled with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni, baked to golden perfection. Perfect as a snack or appetizer for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Pinwheels

  • 8 ounces original refrigerated crescent rolls or dough sheets
  • ⅓ cup pizza sauce
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 21 slices dry cured pepperoni

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Dough: Unroll the entire tube of crescent rolls and seal the dough triangles together, forming one large rectangular sheet.
  3. Add Fillings: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch gap along one long side. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, and distribute the dry cured pepperoni slices evenly on top.
  4. Roll the Dough: Starting from the side nearest the toppings, carefully roll the dough into a tight log, being mindful to keep the gap side free for sealing.
  5. Slice Pinwheels: Cut the rolled dough log into 12 equal rounds using a sharp knife.
  6. Bake: Place the pinwheels onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes until they turn lightly golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the pinwheels to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them on their own or with marinara dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use dry cured pepperoni for thinner slices that make rolling easier, but thicker pepperoni slices can be used if preferred.
  • For a different flavor, try swapping mozzarella for other cheeses like provolone or cheddar.
  • Additional toppings like sliced olives, bell peppers, or mushrooms can be added before rolling.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for best texture.
  • Serve with marinara sauce or ranch dip for added flavor.
