Description

A vibrant and refreshing Mexican Fruit Salad featuring a medley of fresh tropical fruits tossed with lime juice, chili lime seasoning, and fresh herbs for a zesty and colorful treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 1 small watermelon, diced
  • 1 large pineapple, diced
  • 1 medium papaya, diced
  • 1 small jicama, peeled and diced (optional)
  • 2 large mangos, diced
  • 1 small honeydew melon, diced

Seasoning & Herbs

  • Juice of 2 limes
  • Tajin or chili lime seasoning, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons cilantro, minced
  • 1 ½ tablespoons mint, minced

For Garnish

  • Lime wedges
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Fresh cilantro leaves

Instructions

  1. Combine the Fruit: Add all of the chopped fruit into a large mixing bowl. Pour in the juice of 2 limes, then sprinkle the Tajin or chili lime seasoning to taste. Add the minced cilantro and mint to the bowl.
  2. Toss Together: Gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined, ensuring the fruit is evenly coated with the lime juice and seasoning.
  3. Chill the Salad: Place the bowl in the refrigerator and allow it to sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour, letting the flavors meld and the salad chill properly.
  4. Serve and Garnish: Serve the fruit salad cold. Top each serving with lime wedges, fresh mint leaves, and cilantro for an extra burst of flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Add jicama for an added crunch; dice it small for the best texture.
  • Zest the limes before juicing and save the zest in the freezer for future use.
  • Allowing the salad to marinate for 2-3 hours enhances the flavors even more.
  • Use fruit cutters or melon ballers to create unique shapes and improve presentation.
  • For a budget-friendly version, choose seasonal and on-sale fruits.
