Ingredients
Scale
Noodles
- 1 lb yakisoba, lo mein, or spaghetti noodles
Sauce
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
For Cooking and Garnish
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the noodles: Cook the yakisoba, lo mein, or spaghetti noodles just before they become completely soft or al dente, leaving them with a slight bite. Drain well and set aside.
- Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, light brown sugar, minced garlic, and minced ginger until well combined to create the flavorful sauce.
- Cook the noodles: Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the unsalted butter and allow it to melt completely. Then add the drained noodles, cooking them to develop a slight coloring, tossing frequently for about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the noodles and toss thoroughly to combine. Continue cooking for another 2 to 3 minutes so the noodles absorb the sauce and flavors meld perfectly.
- Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, garnish with toasted sesame seeds, serve immediately, and enjoy your delicious hibachi noodles!
Notes
- For a protein boost, add sliced chicken, shrimp, or tofu while cooking the noodles.
- You can substitute yakisoba with any thin noodles such as ramen or even spaghetti if yakisoba noodles are unavailable.
- Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of brown sugar according to your taste preference.
- To enhance flavor, garnish with chopped green onions or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for some heat.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to keep the dish balanced in salt content.
