Description

This Garlic Butter Lobster Tails recipe offers a luxurious seafood experience with tender, flavorful lobster tails baked and broiled to perfection. Infused with a delicious blend of paprika, Old Bay seasoning, garlic, and lemon zest, and topped with a rich garlic butter sauce, this dish is perfect for a special occasion or an impressive dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Lobster Tails

  • 4 lobster tails
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon paprika, divided
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, divided
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • to serve – lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F to prepare for baking the lobster tails.
  2. Prepare lobster tails: Use kitchen scissors to cut down the back of each lobster shell until reaching the tail, keeping the base intact to hold the tail together. Gently pull the shell back, separate the meat from the shell, and lift the meat on top of the shell. Remove the black vein and rinse under cold water if needed.
  3. Season lobster tails: Place lobster tails on a baking sheet with a rack. Mix ¼ teaspoon paprika, ¼ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, ¼ teaspoon salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper in a small bowl, then sprinkle evenly over the lobster tails.
  4. Bake lobster tails: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes to cook the lobster meat through.
  5. Prepare garlic butter sauce: While baking, combine melted butter, chopped parsley, grated garlic, lemon zest, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, and 1 teaspoon kosher salt. Stir well until fully mixed.
  6. Apply butter and broil: Remove 3 tablespoons from the butter mixture and set aside. Brush the remaining butter mixture over the baked lobster tails. Turn the oven broiler to high and broil the lobster tails for 3 minutes to create a golden, flavorful crust.
  7. Finish and serve: Remove lobster tails from the oven, top with the reserved garlic butter sauce, and serve immediately with lemon wedges for squeezing.

Notes

  • Make sure not to overcook lobster tails to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor in the butter sauce.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, especially the Old Bay if you prefer a milder or stronger flavor.
  • Serve quickly after broiling to enjoy lobster at its best texture and warmth.
  • If you don’t have a broiler, you can finish the lobster tails by baking an additional 2-3 minutes, though the broiler adds a nice caramelized finish.
