Description

Delicious and easy Turtle Crockpot Candy featuring pecan halves coated in a rich blend of almond bark, bittersweet and semi-sweet chocolates, topped with Rolo candies and optional sea salt and sprinkles. Perfect for holiday treats or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale

Nut and Chocolate Mixture

  • 32 ounces pecan halves
  • 32 ounces chocolate almond bark, cubed
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Toppings

  • 75 Rolo candies, unwrapped
  • Sea salt, optional
  • Sprinkles, optional

Instructions

  1. Add Ingredients to Crockpot: Place pecan halves, cubed almond bark, bittersweet chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and salt into a 4 or 6-quart crockpot without stirring.
  2. Cook Low First Hour: Cook on low heat for 1 hour undisturbed to begin melting the chocolates and mixing the flavors.
  3. Stir and Continue Cooking: After 1 hour, stir the mixture thoroughly and continue cooking on low for an additional 45 minutes, stirring again afterward to ensure all chocolate is completely melted. Then, turn off the slow cooker.
  4. Prepare Wax Paper and Arrange Rolos: Lay two long strips of wax paper on a clean, level surface, spacing out unwrapped Rolo candies about 3 inches apart.
  5. Distribute Chocolate-Covered Pecans: Use a tablespoon to scoop mounds of the chocolate-coated pecan mixture over each Rolo candy.
  6. Add Toppings and Set: Sprinkle sea salt and sprinkles on top if desired. Allow candy to fully set, roughly 2 hours, before enjoying or packaging.

Notes

  • If almond bark is unavailable, substitute with white chocolate plus 1 tablespoon of shortening to mimic the texture and melting properties.
  • Store Crockpot Candy in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for up to 2 to 3 weeks. It can also be frozen for up to 6 months.
  • For festive variations, use holiday-themed colored sprinkles, such as orange and black for Halloween or green and red for Christmas.
  • Replace semi-sweet chocolate chips with milk chocolate chips for a creamier flavor blend.
  • Switch pecans for any preferred nuts or use Chex or Rice Krispies cereals for a nut-free alternative.
  • Adding 1 cup of craisins provides additional flavor and texture to the candy.
