Description

Delight in these festive Christmas Sprinkle Cookies made with a simple sugar cookie mix, cream cheese, and vibrant red and green food coloring. Rolled in colorful sprinkles and baked to soft perfection, these cookies are the perfect holiday treat to brighten your celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 17.5 ounce bag sugar cookie mix
  • 4 ounce (½ 8-ounce package) cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup (½ stick) salted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Green gel food coloring
  • ½ cup Christmas sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. Make Dough: In a large mixing bowl, use a stand or hand mixer to cream together the sugar cookie mix, softened cream cheese, softened butter, and egg. Beat until fully combined into a soft dough.
  3. Divide Dough: Split the dough evenly into two separate bowls for coloring.
  4. Add Colors: Add red gel food coloring to one bowl and mix thoroughly until the dough is a deep red. Add green gel food coloring to the other bowl and mix until the dough is evenly green.
  5. Form Cookies: Pour the sprinkles into a shallow bowl. Using a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop, form balls of dough and gently roll each ball in the sprinkles until coated. Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.
  6. Bake: Bake the cookies for 11 minutes or until the edges start to firm and the tops don’t collapse when gently touched. The cookies will be soft but set.
  7. Cool: Allow cookies to cool for 3-5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a cooling rack. Serve warm or cooled and enjoy.

Notes

  • Let cream cheese and butter sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to ensure they are soft but not melted for easier mixing and better texture.
  • Avoid overmixing dough, especially after adding food coloring, to keep cookies soft and tender.
  • Use gel food coloring for vibrant and rich holiday colors without adding too much liquid to the dough.
  • Store cookies at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 5 days for best freshness.
  • Freeze cookies wrapped well in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to 3 months.
