Ingredients
Scale
Sandwiches
- 8 slices bread
- 8 slices cheese (or roughly 1/2 cup shredded cheese per sandwich)
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 370 degrees F (188 degrees C). For a convection style air fryer, select ‘AIR FRY’ and set the timer to 8 minutes.
- Butter Bread: Butter all slices of bread evenly on one side using the softened butter.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Place half the buttered bread slices buttered side down on the air fryer racks or basket. Add sliced or shredded cheese onto each slice. Trim excess cheese from edges, if desired. Top with the remaining buttered bread slices, buttered side up. Sprinkle garlic salt over the top if using.
- Cook Sandwiches: For convection air fryers with racks, place the racks with sandwiches in the air fryer when the indicator says ‘ADD FOOD’. Flip the sandwiches halfway through cooking when it says ‘TURN FOOD’ and swap the top and bottom racks to ensure even toasting. For basket-style air fryers, place sandwiches in the basket and cook for 5 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
Notes
- Preheating the air fryer is crucial for crispy, evenly cooked sandwiches, so do not skip this step.
- Air fryer models vary in power; watch sandwiches closely during the last few minutes to avoid burning or undercooking.
- Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket or racks to ensure proper air circulation and even melting.
- You can customize the cheese type or add extras like tomato slices or ham for variations.
