Description
Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Fried Dill Pickles are a perfect snack or appetizer. Coated in a seasoned panko breadcrumb mixture and cooked to golden perfection using an air fryer, these pickles offer a healthier alternative to traditional deep-fried versions without sacrificing crunch or taste.
Ingredients
Scale
Pickles
- 16 pickle spears
Breading
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 ½ cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
Other
- Grapeseed oil spray
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F if your model requires preheating to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
- Prepare breading bowls: Place the flour in one bowl. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined. In a third bowl, mix the panko bread crumbs, paprika, salt, and pepper thoroughly.
- Coat pickle spears: Dry the pickle spears with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Dip each spear first into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat it evenly with the panko breadcrumb mixture. Repeat this process for all the spears.
- Arrange and spray: Place the coated pickle spears in a single layer inside the air fryer basket without overcrowding. If necessary, cook in batches. Lightly spritz the spears with grapeseed oil spray for extra crispiness.
- Air fry pickles: Cook the pickles in the air fryer for 6 minutes. Carefully flip each spear over and continue air frying for an additional 6 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Notes
- Make sure to dry the pickles well before coating to help the breading stick better and become crispier.
- If you don’t have grapeseed oil spray, you can use any neutral cooking oil spray or brush lightly with oil.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation and even cooking.
- For a spicier twist, add cayenne pepper or chili powder to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Serve immediately for best texture and flavor with your favorite dipping sauce like ranch or spicy mayo.
